Back Lane West Residency Spring 2023
These are experiments with materials and ideas I had when at my residency at Back Lane West in Redruth, Cornwall. These materials included, beetroot dye, black bean dye and lemon juice. I played with the colors that were created in the paper, and went back to some of the traditional drawing styles that I was taught at the beginning of my studies. I was back to basics with the graphite and vine charcoal. It was a time to reflect and think about what it was I was creating for this residency as well as my practice as a whole. Having a small group of students to explore and learn from was definitely needed. I was able to learn from new artists around me from how they worked compared to what outline I was always taught or trained to create from.
